1/21/2024 0 Comments Google overseOccasionally I can get it to connect to make a call or send an SMS if I toggle airplane mode a few times and wait. Most of the time it's not connecting at all and says no service, emergency calls only. I don't think it can connect on a lot of the bands anymore, only edge/2g, I basically have no service in many areas that I used to have service, it's basically a dead sim now except on wifi. While they say the calls/sms won't be affected, it seems to be severely degraded so far. Nope, every other time it was 'No problem at all, let me fix that, ok done'. It was never an 'oh we can grant you an exception this one time but you should switch'. Only when I got the warning message about intl data roaming (which was typical to get once a year) do I find out they changed their policy and kicked us off. It's extremely frustrating because they never communicated this out at all to customers that the policy would be changing. They wouldn't even consider looking at our military orders or any other documents and just ended the support conversation. I tried explaining to Google Fi support again but they just said that this is the policy now, the policy has changed from before and I do not qualify anymore. I asked for them to escalate the issue to someone else and they just said their tech reviewed our account and it said we do not qualify per the policy and there's nothing they can do. I contact that company's support for an exception and they give the runaround and tell me there's nothing they can do and they can't grant any exceptions because it's Google Fi's policy and they must follow that. They just talked in circles about how there's nothing they can do and to contact that company doing the verification now if you need an exception. I explained the situation how the new company's form doesn't accurately account for all situations of govt employees overseas with the military. In the past, before they hired this new company, we were always granted exceptions without any issue just using our DoD ID #'s but now Google Fi support says just tells me they can't grant exceptions and that this new company handles verification. My wife is a GS employee on military orders overseas.
